"OLTL": Warlock's Serendipitous Return To Daytime Billy Warlock certainly is busy these days. He's been blessed with a long acting resume, having landed roles on almost all of the current daytime soaps in addition to his prime-time career on "Happy Days" and "Baywatch." He most recently joined his wife, Julie Pinson, on "As the World Turns" as the unscrupulous Blackthorn during the show's final months. Now he's been named as a last-minute replacement for Michael Lowry as Ross on "One Life to Live." It turns out the show wanted to bring the character back, but Lowry was enrolled in law school and couldn't commit, so they turned to a pro like Warlock to assume the role at the last minute. He began taping on July 19. In a smart move, "Days of Our Lives" has asked Melissa Reeves to return to Salem as Jennifer full time beginning this September. The actress made a brief appearance for Alice's (Frances Reid) funeral and has already relocated from Tennessee to Los Angeles since her real-life hubby, Scott Reeves, is now playing Steve on "General Hospital," so she was open to acting again. Look for her to have a pivotal story line during November sweeps. Robin Mattson is set to play another prisoner (last was as Sugar on "The Young and the Restless"). This time she's in the slammer on "Days" as a character named Lee. She'll share scenes with another ex-"Y&R'er," Stacy Haiduk, who will play the warden at the big house. Sadly, Helen Wagner won't be around for the final episode of "ATWT" (she uttered the soap's first line of dialogue in 1956), since she passed away this past May. However, the soap hopes to do her justice by devoting an entire episode to her character Nancy Hughes' upcoming death. Nancy will quietly pass away on Aug. 30, and a tribute will air on Aug. 31, so make sure you tune in. Cady McClain's airdate has been confirmed for her return to Oakdale as Rosanna. Look for her scenes on "ATWT" to begin airing Sept. 14 during the final week of the show. Update: Brenda fans can rejoice! It turns out that Vanessa Marcil Giovinazzo's stay in Port Charles isn't just a quickie ratings stunt — she's signed a one-year deal. "Days" has decided to take the character of Gabi in a new direction by making her a few years older. Gabriela Rodriguez has been let go and replaced with Camila Banus, who last played Lola on "OLTL." In other casting news, several recurring characters pop up on "The Bold and the Beautiful" this week, including Winsor Harmon (Thorne) for the Aug. 24 episode, Aaron D. Spears (Justin) on Aug. 23, and this year's Daytime Emmy winner for Outstanding Younger Actor, Drew Tyler Bell (Thomas), on Aug. 23, 24 and 27. Our condolences go out to the family of Larry Keith, who played Nick Davis on "All My Children" beginning in 1970 and periodically up until 2005. He passed away on July 17 from complications of lung cancer. Keith also served on the board of directors for the Screen Actors Guild and was the former president of its New York division.
